it's utterly amazing that the society has bamboozled publishers into thinking that all of its cutbacks.
are somehow not related to a lack of donations.. perhaps this will be tested in the next few years as gasoline, food, and other essentials go way.
up in price while wages stay stagnant.

i am one of those people who always gives money to those who ask me on the street.
the reason is because there was a time when i was a kid that my siblings and i needed to beg on the street for food money because mom and dad were both addicts.. anyway, i was on my way into walmart and a lady stopped me and asked if i could give her a few dollars ($5 to be exact) so that she could pick up a prescription for some medicine.
she explained that she and her kids have been sick with bronchitis and although the kids were better she was not and had run out of money until her check came on the first of the month.. i can also sympethize with having to wait for government checks to buy what you need having grown up on state welfare programs and i reasoned that $5 is nothing for me and my husband because combined we bring in over six figures a year income.
I used to give money whenever I could but I have stopped more recently. There have been a lot of newspaper articles and stories on the news lately saying that if we give money we are not actually helping b/c it doesn't force the person to get a job or to do something about their situation etc. Plus, I have my own bills to pay.
I still feel bad though...mostly b/c we cannot judge everyone the same, there are those who truly need the money b/c they are in a tight spot.

hi everybody, my name is julie, and this is my first post.. i'm a third generation jw, or at least i was until a two weeks ago, when i was announced as no longer a jw.
i'm really happy about that, ecstatic in fact, although i'd been a jw all my life, and i'm 37 now.
i could have disassociated like my friends, but i couldn't be bothered to play their chikdish game, so i let them do it for me.

i think there is one at my hospital because of what a coworker said one time in reference to blood doctrine.
i can't imagine them going into medicine with all the time it requires, between school, residency, etc.
just wondering
I was taking spanish lessons from a pioneer elder once. His family had done all sorts of missionary work. He told me when he was in South America somewhere he became close friends with a doctor and the doctor had trained him. He told me he was a medical doctor unofficially. How naive was I?? I was soo impressed. Young. Dumb. Much smarter now!!

i once heard an older dub, *godresthissoul* while reading a scripture say, "parents do not be irrigating your children!

I remember once at a bookstudy many years ago there was a brother who was very long-winded when he commented...he went on and on and on...and I had tuned him out b/c his comment went forever until he said "until we are shoveling sh!t in the new system". How I wish I had been listening, b/c I think he was on to something! ha ha.

Yes and no. I drifted away which was pretty easy, especially considering for the most part, no one tried to help me back. It was for the better anyway, b/c I wanted out and it would have been harder for me if people tried.
The family thing has been difficult, I guess I still deal with that from time to time. I do miss my brother more than you can imagine. Overall, it was much easier for me than what I had imagined it would be before leaving...
I have to say that since joining this forum things have become MUCH more clear to me. I mostly have anger and resentment now that I realize the whole picture, whereas before it was not like that. I am sooo angry! I would (and have) tell anyone now my real feelings on the org. whereas before I kept it to myself. I wouldn't be considered an apostate before - I sure am now!!

shunning still hurts for me, i admit it.
though i have no common ground with these people any longer, it is just the idea that i am treated as evil for nothing more than exiting the religion.
i was in a chinese rest on wednesday.
I'm sorry your hurt over her actions Jeff.
Just know, she will get hers one day. She can sit there all high and mighty now, but there will come a time...you wait and see. She may be acting a certain way, but inside she knows the truth of the matter and how it really is. She is probably bothered inside that you had the b@lls to get out and she doesn't...weak.
Hang in there, I feel your pain!
